Signage Company History
Although Signscape is a new name to the industry, the signage company has a long and distinguished history at their Bristol site. The signage company originally started as Signfix in 1972, when the founder Bob Heard designed the ‘twist-in toggle’ sign fixing clip, a product that revolutionised traditional sign installation.
In the early 1990’s, the Bristol site became the home of Signfix Systems, concentrating on the manufacture of a comprehensive range of modular sign systems. The signage company then diversified a few years later with the acquisition of the Lynester products, making the signage company one of the leading suppliers of display units to the sign industry.
In 2003, the signage company became the Systems Division of SignPost Solutions, continuing to supply the same high quality products to a wide range of sign makers. During this time, the Systems division expanded to incorporate a fabrication department capable of producing more bespoke products, as well as its standard range of modular sign systems and display units.
In 2006, Hamish Paterson headed an acquisition of the Systems Division and introduced the Signscape brand. Signscape now aims to continue its reputation as one of the sign making industries leading trade suppliers.
Signscape Systems Environmental Policy
Signscape Systems Ltd is committed to leading the sign making industry in minimising the impact of its activities and products on the environment.
We are considerate of the local and global impacts of our signage company, and are committed to continually improving our environmental performance and preventing pollution where possible. We encourage our staff and customers to contribute towards these aims, and provide support where appropriate.
We recognise that one of the key impacts of our products is the energy they consume for lighting throughout their lifetime, so we have developed a range of solar powered systems which operates on 100% solar power, reducing associated carbon emissions (and disturbance to area through laying cable). We will continue to invest in improving the environmental performance of our products.
The key actions we will take to achieve this are:
- Minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible
- Minimise toxic emissions through the selection and use of our fleet and the source of its power requirement.
- Actively promote recycling both internally and amongst our customers and suppliers.
- Source and promote a product range to minimise the environmental impact of both production, distribution, use and disposal.
- Meet or exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to our signage company.
- Use all good environmental practices in our day to day operations.
- Use registered waste disposal companies for removal of all waste.
- Respect all clients’ policies aimed at a better environment.
We will annually review our progress towards achieving these aims.
